Eddie Van Halen has announced that he is making a foray into the fashion world, by hawking a collection of sneakers modelled on his famous red, white and black striped ‘Frankenstein’ guitar.

Having worn the custom made clogs onstage for years, it seems the idea has only recently occurred to Eddie.

In a statement he says: “So many people would ask me, where can I get a pair of those? After hearing that for about 15 years, I figured they were something that people obviously wanted, so making them available and official seemed like a natural progression”

In addition to the ‘Frankenstein’ design, the Converse style sneakers are also available adorned with designs that pay homage to some of Eddies other axe’s – White with black stripes, and black with yellow stripes – and all are emblazoned with ‘5150’ logo running down the heal.

Speaking about the as-yet-untitled new album, which also features former Nine Inch Nails tub-thumper Josh Freese on drums and former Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney, Slash revealed on his MySpace page: “We’ve nailed four killer tracks with four amazing vocals so far and nailing another one Tuesday [April 14], so things are going extremely well.

“Everybody who has contributed vocals so far have been flawless and the rhythm section, Josh and Chris, are priceless.

“Eric Valentine is a genius producer, not to mention his team is great. All in all this last couple of weeks have been a hell a lot of fun and we’re just getting started.

“It’s definitely going to be a kick-ass record, if I do say so myself.”

As far as for who will be performing vocal duties on the record, Slash’s wife Perla Hudson has allegedly revealed that both Ozzy Osbourne, and The Black Eyed Pea’s Fergie will be guesting on the album.

Filmed digitally in Hi Def to provide pristine picture quality, FLIGHT 666 was directed by Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen with the award-winning Banger Productions team (‘Metal - A Headbanger’s Journey’ and ‘GLOBAL METAL’) who take you right inside the Maiden family with almost total access to the band, something which Maiden have never allowed before. Over the years, footage and audio of the Oregon-based Merry Pranksters have surfaced, but was little more than ragged, disjointed documentation of the group tripping and weirding out. Except for Neal Cassady’s endless speed-jacked rap, there was little narrative. Now, director Gus Van Sant is helming the book’s adaptation to the big screen with Milk and Big Love writer Dustin Lance Black. Milk’s director of photography Harris Savides is also committed to the film.

After several false starts, the project is coming together. “These seeds have been in the wind for a long time,” says Ken Babbs, Kesey’s best friend and fellow Merry Prankster. “I talked to Gus. And I was happy he was making the movie. Back in the 1970s, Kesey and Gus were friends and Ken told him if anyone ever made the film he wanted Gus to do it.”

Van Sant originally pictured the late Heath Ledger for the Kesey role, but now has two marquee names in mind: Woody Harrelson and Jack Black, which might make the film more of comedy than a zany drug jag. Caroline Garcia (a.k.a. Mountain Girl), a Prankster and former wife of Jerry Garcia, said Harrelson visited Kesey shortly before he died. “They went out into the field and had a pretty good mind meld,” Garcia says. “I just know he could play the role.” Garcia mentioned Black might be a fit for “The Mad Chemist,” the infamous LSD impresario Owsley “Bear” Stanley, who launched an untold number of minds into outer space and was an artist and early sound engineer for the Dead (he’s credited with revolutionizing live stereo sound). Black’s camp had no comment. And who will play Caroline Garcia? She suggests Scarlett Johansson. Maybe Maura Tierney. “Well, I’m 5′10″, so she would have to be tall. I mean, I ride a Harley Davidson.”

The film tells the true story of Elliot Tiber, played by Martin, who helps organizer Michael Lang secure a concert permit in order to stage the famed 1969 music festival in upstate New York (incidentally, Woodstock celebrates its 40th anniversary this summer). The film was directed by Ang Lee and also stars Emile Hirsch, Liev Schreiber, Watchmen’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Paul Dano, Imelda Staunton and Eugene Levy as Max Yasgur, whose farmland became the stage for Woodstock.

Despite director Lee’s oeuvre of serious dramas like The Ice Storm, Brokeback Mountain and Lust, Caution, both Schamus and Lee wanted to make sure Taking Woodstock “is about play and fun and has hopeful spirit,” the producer said. So comedian Martin, who is relatively new to film acting, was cast to play the lead of Elliot Tiber after Schamus saw a video of Martin on YouTube.

Emile Hirsch talked about the mudslide scene last year: “The mud’s pretty cold. It’s later in the year than it was during Woodstock. We were all shivering, and we had these silver-foil space blankets that miraculously keep you really warm…I did a Superman slide down a hill, and started turning on my back. I was covered in mud. I think there was pig crap mixed in, because we all smelled like crap.”

The film hits theaters on August 14th, just one day before the 40th anniversary of the first day of the Woodstock festival, which began on August 15th, 1969.

The Rock Radio is reporting that Ozzy Osbourne and his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne are attempting to lease one of two beach houses they own in Malibu, California, according to The Real Estalker. The home is available to lease for $25,000 a month. The couple initially put it up for sale in March of 2006 for $14 million, eventually dropping the price to just under $11 million, but have not managed to find a buyer. The Osbournes own another house in a gated community in the Hidden Hills area, which they bought for $10 million after selling the Los Angeles home in which their reality series The Osbournes was mostly filmed.

That house was sold to Christina Aguilera in the summer of 2007.

The Osbourne family’s new variety series, Osbournes: Reloaded, premiered on Fox on Tuesday, March 31st. The critically blasted show came in fourth in its time slot with mediocre ratings. Although six episodes have been shot, an airdate for the second one has yet to be announced.

Ozzy Osbourne is working on a new studio album.

Speaking to Billboard.com, the guitarist confirmed that recent ‘health issues’ and touring commitments have conspired to force the postponement of the groups first album of original material since 2001’s ‘Just Push Play’.

Recording sessions were first halted earlier this year when Perry underwent surgery to clear out an infection in his knee replacement, and as recently as last month proceedings were again interrupted when Steven Tyler came down with pneumonia.

“So basically we had to push (the album) back and when the band gets off the road, that’s when we’ll pick up the Aerosmith record.”

Perry has also revealed that the aging, Boston rockers have “probably two or three songs that could be mixed right now, maybe even more.” But concedes that “there’s a long way between two or three and doing the 12 or 14 that you have to have to do a whole project.”
