I hope you have your HARP Lager on ice, and your corned beef purchased. Its time to start celebrating St.Pat’s! We’ll stretch this out for a few days with some performances by Irish and Irish-American artists.

Leading off………U2, playing Get Your Boots Off live from the Brit Awards, 2009.

Next, the late great genius, Rory Gallagher, with an acoustic version of Too Much Alcohol, Irish TV, from 1977.

Finally, The Corrs perform Stevie Nicks’ Dreams, with Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood sitting in.

U2 To Play GIANTS STADIUM; Other Tour News

U2 will play Giants Stadium in New Jersey on September 24th, according to a story appearing in The Star-Ledger and confirmed by U2’s Official Website. The 360 Degree Tour, so called for the stage configuration that will give the audience views from all angles with stage equipment (lights, speakers, etc) hovering above the stage, will begin in Barcelona on June 30th.

As of this entry other North American tour dates are; September 12 Soldier Field, Chicago; September 16 Rogers Centre, Toronto; September 20 Gilette Stadium, Foxboro, MA; and Giants Stadium on the September 24th.

Again, check out U2’s Official Website for details on ticket availability for the European venues, and when tickets will go on sale for the North American dates.

U2 Ties Led Zeppelin

Taylor Swift, it was fun while it lasted. This week, the number one spot on the Billboard 200 went to U2’s No Line on the Horizon, which sold 484,000 copies, the best sales week for an artist since Britney Spears’ Circus last December, according to Billboard.com. That means U2 and Led Zeppelin are tied for the second-most Number 1 albums, with seven each (the Beatles have 19.)
