Aerosmith and ZZ Top have announced the dates and cities they’ll visit in 2009 on their joint tour this summer. The Aerosmith & ZZ Top 2009 Summer Tour Dates are listed below.

Rolling Stone reported that Aerosmith and ZZ Top have announced the dates and cities they’ll visit on their joint tour this summer. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers‘ jaunt will kick off June 10th with a show in St. Louis, Missouri, and run through the entire summer, covering most major markets before concluding — as of now — with a September 16th show in Detroit. Live Nation is handling the ticket sale, and venue information is slowly emerging on the service’s Website.

When Rolling Stone caught up with Joe Perry backstage at last week’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, the guitarist said he was pumped about touring with world’s most famously bearded band. “That’s just amazing to be able to play with them because it’s going to be a kickass show,” Perry said, adding that Aerosmith would reinvigorate their set lists this time around. Perry also told RS that Aerosmith’s new album has been delayed, but they’re aiming to finish it after the tour wraps.

While venues for the majority of shows hasn’t been announced — details for just three shows were announced last week — it’s easy to guess what amphitheater or arena the tour might hit by looking at the itinerary. For instance, Wantagh, New York’s show will obviously take place at the Nikon at Jones Beach, the Holmdel, New Jersey show will be at the PNC Bank Arts Centre, Uncasville, Connecticut is Mohegan Sun, etc. Guess the venue in your market by checking out the full tour dates below — and stick with Rolling Stone for the most updated news on the Aerosmith/ZZ Top tour.

After some super-spy work, Metal Hammer understands that Download may be a Classic Rock paradise on its closing night.

The Metal Hammer moles have been busy this lunchtime and with Slipknot already having confirmed their appearance on Saturday, the industry grapevine is now working overtime.

In our exclusive interview Download Festival organizer suggested ZZ Top and Britain’s very own Def Leppard…two names which were strongly reinforced over our spicy pork and chicken noodles. Add to this another name SLITHERING into contention and we wouldn’t be surprised if Download’s Sunday turns into a more classic rock affair.

It also seems as though Heaven & Hell may not be playing the festival after all but come back on Monday for ‘Day Of Reckoning’ when both Download and Metallica’s Knebworth extravaganza are to announce just a small portion of their bills.

Today has seen Slipknot self-confirm as headliners for the Saturday evening and ‘Hammer scribe Beez has his say on why they deserve it.
